He then said the first ticket you get you’re WALKING understand⁉️Ĭlick to expand.lol your not wrong with any of that. He had a built 289 and said we can pull the 2.0L out your car and install the 289 and use the 2.0L in the hunting buggy. Dad was going to build a little mid engine hunting buggy. My father was an Auto Body Man and Mechanic. I was set on dumping every penny I made into it. ![]() My apologies but when I was much younger I had a Ford from the factory that came with a I4, V6 or V8. But with your knowledge have you ever thought of an LS swap? I’m ready forįrom reading your posts I would say it should be a piece of cake for someone with your skills. He then said the first ticket you get you’re WALKING I’m very new to this tread and I fully understand why you are trying to make the 2TR out perform high performance cars. The only reason I went FI over having a LS installed was the cost to me as I don’t have the tools and or SKILLS to do an engine swap.įrom reading your posts I would say it should be a piece of cake for someone with your skills. Now I really like the Toyota dependability as much as the next person but it is REALLY hard to argue with these numbers. With cruise set at 5 to 10 above the limit he went to the dunes and back. He needed to make a quick trip to the dunes for testing. He also has a long travel LS powdered sandrail. Fix the oiling issue, make it breathe with the proper parts and get 400 plus HP to the ground and 29 mpg gallon.Īn gentleman who I was going to have install an LS in our 5 lug has an S10 with an clean running LS1 & a Tremec. It is hard to argue with the cheap HP & TQ that GM hunk of aluminum & steel makes. But with your knowledge have you ever thought of an LS swap? I’m ready for Also hopefully some of the money we spend on Polaris brand oil will go to support vehicle R&D and future products that will continue to somehow convince all of us to spend our hard earned money on their products, and provide us with awesome off/on road experiences.I’m very new to this tread and I fully understand why you are trying to make the 2TR out perform high performance cars. Yes they have problems with their units, but for a company that is growing very quickly, dominating the market, and producing way more units than any other OEM, their problems aren't that much different than what you see in any other mass manufactured product. I have some faith they also want to provide their customers with a good ownership experience. There are ways to make more money on their oil, by offering a more standard oil viscosity like 10w40 based on what I've read online. They undoubtedly test more of their engines than any aftermarket oil company, because they have to test every unit they design and validate. Z1's have similar issue and I have my Vipec programmed to increase idle rpm from 1400 to 1500 to 1600 to 1700 as the engine temp climbs from 180, 190, 200, 210.Īgreed, I'm not saying any one oil is perfect for everyone, the aftermarket oil is junk, etc, but I do find it kind of annoying and somewhat ignorant that it seems each oil thread I read some one says Polaris' oil is junk and brand X is so much better? I'm playing the side of the fence that believes Polaris isn't 100% out to just make money off us by selling junk. Since oil is both a lubricant and coolant I was able to keep temps below 210 all the time AND maintain my idle oil pressure.Ī 100-200 idle rpm increase is also enough to bring up the idle oil pressure. My solution was to run an oil cooler with fan. Now turbo guys will see 210+ pretty easy on a hot day if you haven't upgraded radiator. The low oil pressure is directly related to the temperature. ![]() But if you do I would suggest driving around a little until it cools. ![]() A stock RZR seems to cool pretty good and most rarely see 210+ degrees. Oil viscosity is rated at 212 I believe and starts to thin significantly after that. It becomes an issue when engine is over 210 degrees. This is common in the dunes as everyone like to "shoot" the hill then go stop at the top. The problem occurs when you run an engine HARD and then stop (let idle). Its not unusually to see 5psi which is ok to some degree. Most people that actually put an oil pressure gauge in notice lower oil pressure at idle than they like.
